"It's all happening in Adrigole
over the August weekend as the parish welcomes visitors from
far and near for the 2015 Adrigole GAA Duck Race Festival.
This year’s festival is once again packed with family fun,
top musical acts and much more.The festival runs from
Thursday, July 30th to Monday August 3rd. Highlights include
live music and entertainment featuring Gerry Bruton, Brian
Casey, Pa Curran, John Twohig, Jerry McCarthy, Murphy's Men
and a host of local musicians.We are delighted to once again
host the event at the base of the beautiful Hungry Hill on
the grounds of Hungry Hill Lodge and Camp Site where there
will be a fully licenced Marquee, BBQ and pig on spit to
keep hungry punters happy. A varied programme of events will
run right through from Thursday July 30th starting with a
Céilí/Barn Dance up until Monday August 3rd. The pinnacle of
the weekend is our Family Fun Day on Sunday August 2nd. Of
course the highlight of the weekend will be the annual Duck
race, closely followed by the Baa-ra sheep racing, both
taking place on Sunday.This year a tag rugby event has been
added to the programme of events. This tournament will take
place on Saturday August 1st and all teams are welcome.

to be great craic with plenty of refreshments available pre
and post-match!There will also be a range of fun events from
kayaking to football blitzes and camping will also be
available at the Hungry Hill Lodge and Campsite.Thursday
sees the celebrations kick off with a bumper céilí and
barndance with music by Jerry McCarthy.On Friday the marquee
welcomes a host of local musicians for a monster music
session.On Saturday we will kick off registration for our
tag rugby competition at 1pm. Everyone is welcome, whether
you are a team entry or an individual looking to join a
team. Turn up on the day and everyone will be
accommodated.Sunday sees the vintage rally, family fun day,
duck race, sheep race, dog show, face painting, bouncy
castle, sumo wrestling, egg cracking competition and more
live music with Gerry Bruton, Pa Curran and Brian CaseyDucks
for the duck race are on sale locally and from club
members.There will be plenty food and refreshments on site
that offer a little something for everyone and it promises
to be a fun filled weekend with something for all the

Beara People and O’ Sullivans to Dunboy Grounds,
Castletownbere on the 26th of July at 2.00pm.
A once off festival will be held
in the grounds of Dunboy Castle on the 26th of July at
The opening ceremony will include
horses in a parade on the grounds of the Castle. The Beara
vintage car club will be present at the Castle grounds. The
event will highlight a music and dancing session, poetry by
famous National and Local Poet Leanne O’ Sullivan, a tasting
of the new Dunboy Beer accompanied by locally produced world
famous Milleens Cheese.
A large O’ Sullivan Clan Gathering
will be held on the day and an update on the March of O'
Sullivan Beara walking trail to Leitrim will be presented. A
and local food will be available on the day. This event will
suit all ages and all are welcome. We hope this will be a
great Beara event in a spectacular setting, celebrating the
heritage and culture of the Beara Peninsula. The event will
be free to the public, including parking. For more

So what Castletownbere has to offer is a real jam packed year, Cycling and walking the Beara peninsula have become very popular and we have many events to promote this happening in the area this year. Also as always we are 100% commited to supporting our local community and businesses.

The Festival of the Sea
A week long celebration of the heritage of the fishing cummunity of Castletownbere, it is a real showcase of the towns people and what is available here.
starting on the friday evening with the informus sheaf tossing, air rugby, wheel barrow racing and lots of other fun new games every year. This leads into a three day market and childrens entertainment on the main square followed each evening by live bands and a late night D.J.
Monday marks the main regatta day with lots of fun water sports and games organised by the Castletownbere Rowing club and Castletownbere Development associasion.
This leads into a fun packed week around the area for all ages with the finally 'Take Me Out' on the friday evening
Three years ago, the poet John
O'Leary died in a boating accident off the shores of Beara.
On Saturday, the 8th of August, we will remember John
with a day of poetry workshops and readings.
All proceeds will go to the establishment of
John O'Leary Prize for Poetry
